TECH ISSUE FOR TEAM 109 AT MOTORLAND ARAGON

 In News

Unfortunately, not the weekend results we had all hoped for here in Aragon, due to a technical issue in FP1 on Friday which hampered our progress until the end of FP2 this left us without the valuable quality track time we required for bike setup.

Eunan McGlinchey:
“Another New circuit for us again this weekend but I was looking forward to riding Aragon, I got to grips with the circuit pretty quickly but the technical issue on Friday meant we had lost those sessions. The Team worked hard to give me a set up for FP3 and I improved my time, but we just needed a little more to push our way into Superpole. Qualifying positions for Superpole in this class are so close and a couple of tenths can jump you massively up the order. The last chance race I felt good because we knew where to improve on the bike, and we had a good setup for the race. I started well and from 14th on the grid I got on the front group quickly and got to P9 when I got hit from behind at the final corner on lap 5 this cost me massive time and I lost the leading group. Both the team and I were left disappointed as we had what we needed this weekend to get a good result, but we are not far away, and we go into next weekend with a good setup so I’m looking to hit the ground running next Friday. Thanks to the sponsors and all my personal sponsors who help make this happen”.

Paul Tobin – Team Manager:
“losing sessions to any sort of issues is something we can ill afford to do this year as quality track time is so valuable to both Eunan and the team in this extremely competitive class but that’s part of racing sometimes. After losing Friday more or less we had 5 laps to get a time and we just came up a little short with our setup in FP3 to allow Eunan to get into Superpole. This left the last chance race and Eunan rode an excellent opening to the race putting in a 2:08.8 on lap 4 which was the fastest lap of the race at that time to get him right on the leading group. But as in Portimao he was again very unlucky to be hit from behind at Turn 17 on the fifth lap, this ran him wide and he lost the group. But we now move on and we have a lot of positives to take into the Teruel round next weekend where we are hoping to get going early in FP1. Thanks to all our sponsors for helping us get here and a special mention to John from JOG Tuning for helping us out at the weekend.”
